Mr. Anil Goeladmin
Born on May 22, 1948, Anil Goel passed his B.E.(Hons) from Thapar University with a Silver Medal, by standing first in Mechanical Engineering branch in the University. Immediately he was selected by Gabriel India Ltd, Mumbai a company which then recruited only from IITs, or VJTI, as a Management trainee. He worked with Gabriel for six years.
He was promoted to the Managerial level in two years as against a normal period of three years. After a stint of six years, he decided to go on his own, and set up a manufacturing company to manufacture Bicycle Components for OE & Exports in Ghaziabad. The company is now being run very successfully by his younger brother. In 1982 when Mopeds were coming in to the market in a big way, he was invited by the Hero group to set up a Shock-Absorber manufacturing facility in Ludhiana which he did under the name of “Shox India”. Anil Goel has the credit of setting up the first Shock-Absorber manufacturing unit in the country in SSI segment. In 1986-87, he was invited by the Kinetic group to set up Duro Shox Pvt Ltd, at Pune for catering to their Shock-Absorber requirement. In a short period Duro Shox became a major supplier of Shock-Absorbers to Kinetic, Bajaj, TVS, and Hero mopeds, and was the fifth largest Shock-Absorber manufacturer in the country.Duro Shox received a big setback with the decline of Moped industry, and major OEMs setting up their own Shock-Absorber manufacturing companies. Accepting the changed market situation, Duro Shox, ventured into Shock-Absorbers for Industrial and off road application, and is today the largest manufacturer of Shock-Absorbers of this category in the country, exporting nearly 60% of its output to advanced countries like US, Germany, and even China.Five years back, Duro Shox started its Suspension Assembly plant, as a forward integration, and this plant today is producing high end suspensions for its Global customers, and some big OEMs in India. This facility also exports nearly 75% of its output to USA.He has now passed on the reins of his business to his son Anshul, and is actively involved in philanthropic work through Rotary International. He is however still fully available to his team for guidance 24x7.
